It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elton P. “Juppy” Muth, 72, of Longswamp Township, Pennsylvania, who died suddenly on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Tower Health – Reading Hospital and Medical Center in West Reading. His passing marks a profound loss to his family, friends, and the agricultural community he served throughout his life.

Elton P. Muth was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, son, brother, and respected community member. He was the beloved husband of Nancy L. (Sheeler) Muth, with whom he shared nearly 37 years of marriage, having wed on July 15, 1989.

Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Elton was the son of Catherine “Cass” R. (Adam) Muth of Longswamp Township and the late Oscar G. Muth Jr. Raised in a family grounded in hard work and farming traditions, he developed a lifelong connection to the land that shaped his identity and purpose.

Early Life and Work Ethic

A graduate of Brandywine Heights High School (Class of 1972) in Topton, Elton built a life centered on responsibility, dedication, and perseverance. Over the years, he worked with several companies, including East Penn Manufacturing Co., Inc., Lyons, Jerry Hartman Roofing, and Dennis Gehman Roofing, where he was respected for his reliability and strong work ethic.

Passion for Farming and Agriculture

Despite his many professional roles, Elton’s true passion remained farming and agriculture. He spent much of his life working on and supporting family farms and later contributed to Vista Grande Farms, LLC in Fleetwood as an equipment operator and farm assistant.

He especially enjoyed hauling cattle and livestock to local fairs for family and friends, and he was well known as a trusted and dependable driver within the local Mennonite community. His work reflected a deep respect for rural life, tradition, and community cooperation.

Family and Loved Ones

Elton is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Muth; his mother, Cass Muth; and his daughter, Megan L. (Muth), wife of Kyle A. Noss of Longswamp Township. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Harper R. Noss and Amber S. Noss.

He is also survived by his sister, Cathleen “Tutty” R. (Muth), wife of Larry Wisser of Lynnville, along with extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

Funeral Arrangements

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., Kutztown. Burial will follow at Zion Moselem Church Cemetery.

Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m.
